I have decided that I will start weaning Declan on January 5th. He will be 18 months exactly at that point.
At first I wanted to make it to 6 weeks, then to 6 months. I'm very proud of myself for making it this far considering the troubles I had in the beginning.
Right now I nurse Declan about 3 times a day. In the morning when he wakes up he comes into bed with us for a little bit while I nurse him. I nurse him before his nap in the afternoon and then again at night if I'm putting him to bed. I no longer nurse him to sleep but I think it helps him relax right before bed
I think I'll start weaning the morning feeding first. I think if we don't bring him into bed with us he won't expect to nurse. We'll just give him a cup of milk instead.
I'm going to miss our morning cuddle but I'm sure we'll be able to do it again once he doesn't associate it with nursing.
